Welcome to the 'National Youth Film Festival-2024,' returning this year for its second edition, dedicated to discovering our own original stories that resonate with our youth.

In tandem with the festival, the inaugural 'National Youth Short Film Competition' launches on April 1, 2024. Submit your short films through this platform for consideration. We accept your short films until June 30, 2024.

This event is organized in alignment with the vision of the Honorable President, overseen by the Presidential Secretariat and the National Youth Services Council.

Our aim is to empower Sri Lankan youth to realize their cinematic aspirations by sharing their unique narratives with the world.

Key details about the National Youth Short Film Competition:

1. Your films will be evaluated by a jury comprising experienced, talented, and young filmmakers.

2. Entries will be categorized into School, Open, and International segments. The top 100 short films will initially be selected, followed by a final selection of 20 films from each category, and 05 from international category totaling 45 outstanding works.

3. The final 45 films will be showcased in a public screening at a cinema hall in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

4. The awards ceremony, held as part of the National Youth Film Festival's conclusion, will honor the winners of the National Youth Short Film Competition.

The Jury will select the nominated short films and winners for the following categories from the open and school competitions.

The "Best International Short" will be selected from among the films submitted under the international category.

Rules and Conditions applicable to All Categories
1. The short film submitted must be creative, with a running or screening time appropriate for
the respective categories, a compelling storyline, and imaginative narration. Animated short
stories are also acceptable.
2. The short film must have been produced after January 1st, 2023.
3. All short films must be subtitled in English.
4. Any short film containing insults, racial themes, indecent content, or targeting any
individual or group, with scenes or dialogues that are insulting or sarcastic, will be
disqualified without review by the jury.
5. Awareness videos, advertisements, and lyrical videos will not be considered eligible for the
competition.
