Experiencing Interruptions?

Now What...?

Now What...? explores the messiness of heartbreak and the shock of loneliness when you lose your first love. This film is a tribute to my early twenties and how confusing it was navigating both old and new relationships in an isolated world.

Director Statement

Drawing inspiration from the hit TV series 'Euphoria' created by Sam Levinson, my short film 'Now What...?' offers a raw and honest portrayal of a young woman's life turned upside down by the end of her first serious relationship. Through the character of Nat, we follow her journey as she navigates through the complex emotions of heartbreak, trauma, and social media in a world of drugs and isolation.

Nat's desperation to distract herself from the pain of being alone for the first time leads her down a dangerous path of self-discovery, from sexting and partying to experimenting with LSD. The title of the film, 'Now What...?', echoes Nat's feelings of being lost and unsure of what to do next after losing her primary source of distraction - her boyfriend Lucas.

As the entire world grapples with feelings of isolation in the midst of a pandemic, Nat's journey serves as a reflection of the loneliness and confusion felt by many in their late teenage years and early twenties. I believe this film will resonate with a broad audience, particularly young women who have experienced the mixed feelings of dread and guilt associated with the end of a relationship, as well as the liberation and euphoria of newfound freedom.

Ultimately, 'Now What...?' is a story about the universal human experience of growth and self-discovery. I hope that my film will provide a powerful and relatable glimpse into the complexities of young adulthood, leaving audiences with a sense of both hope and empathy for Nat and her journey.
