Director Statement

Obstacles in life can erode one's work ethic and encourage procrastination—something the Michigan punk powerhouse, The Tiny Ugly Germs, and I had in common when this DIY video was born. We both wanted to express the idea of getting back up and taking charge with what we had available: a computer with iMovie, a friend's DSLR, and another friend's new iPhone.

With these tools, and a budget of about $50 for pizza over several weeks, we created something that, while not professionally produced, is something we're still profoundly proud of. We also learned how to overcome creative blocks and simply create with whatever resources are at hand, rather than making excuses. That lesson, being the subject of the song, also became the subject of the video.
