nosebleeders
an aspiring musician encounters an otherworldly presence while recording an album with his new band, and then inconspicuously every other aspect of his life begins to fall apart. This true tale sci-fi feature with documentary elements is based on real experiences that Matthew Gray and his fellow band members went through before forming the indie rock band Matthew & The Arrogant Sea.

apparently, as a baby, i was already looking through the viewfinder of my grandad’s VHS camcorder. my youth was spent in Colorado forcing my siblings and friends to star in hundreds of my strange little productions. this movie making passion of mine naturally became my biggest dream, and leading in to college i realized that i could make a career out of it. movies from filmmakers like Charlie Chaplin and François Truffaut massively influenced me. then i started finding true joy in creating my own short films and music videos. this eventually led to my youtube series ‘smallsongs’ and my first feature film ‘nosebleeders’ which will be coming out in 2020! my goal is to inspire others through movies in the same way that movies have always inspired me.
Matthew & The Arrogant Sea's "Pretty Purple Top Hat" has been my favorite song ever since i first heard it, and that was what ultimately led me in to the beautifully strange world of Matthew & The Arrogant Sea. my creative relationship with Matthew Gray and the band has been both inspiring and life changing. in the year leading up to shooting 'nosebleeders' we put out multiple music videos and short films, and they all led up to this movie. it was an honor to have Matthew Gray open up to me about this weird secret story featuring his creative process, bad business decisions, seances, ouija boards, spirituality, psychedelic drugs, brotherhood, and otherworldly things. while this is a story is partially based on paranormal encounters and unexplainable occurrences, throughout the process it became so much more. 'nosebleeders' is also about the tumultuous creation of a young band of dreamers and of family, and how they were all eventually pushed apart from each other. this is a massive true story involving the opinions of various real characters, and my goal was always to tell this in the most truthful way possible. based on my relationship with Matthew and the band, i found myself in the unique position of being the only person on this planet who could give this untold story the justice it deserves, and I'm so excited to share this movie with the world!
