In The Moment (No Momento)
In the fifties, before the term "Design" was known in Portugal, Vítor da Silva made his debut in the "Século" newspaper's drawing room and collaborated with the "Diário de Lisboa". In the seventies he will bring a graphic modernity to the newspapers designed by himself: "Expresso" and "Tempo", and by the remodelling of "Diário de Notícias". A portrait of the pressures of newspaper design, in a time when newspapers were made in the moment.

In the same year he lanches the Motion Landscapes showcasing his works.
From 2015 to 2018, Rui directs and produces his debut documentary: “No Momento” (In The Moment), a journey on the newspaper design of Vítor da Silva, designer of prestigious newspapers such as “Expresso”.
"No Momento" premiered in July 2018 in the Avanca International Cinema, TV Festival and was awarded the "Television World Premiere Prize". In November 2019 the director received the Augusta Award for "Best Documentary" at the Bragacine Film Festival.
The film portrays of a bygone era before digitalization in which the printed newspaper was the most widespread medium of information (often the only one).
A newspaper's headquarter was a factory were the product was made with a complex level of craftsmanship that today we find astonishing. Despite this, these factories produced daily information on time, and as a result, usability and look were not a concern.
In Portugal, in the 1960 ́s, when designers were ask to reshape these newspapers, they had to do it under pressure of this process. They carried the responsibility of providing a reading experience that would set them apart from everything before.
Their rules became the norm of the experience of reading the news we today take for granted.
