Director Statement

I have been really fascinated with a quote by Cesar A. Cruz that "Art Should Disturb The Comfortable And Comfort The Disturbed". I have always tried to follow it. Nistaran, in Hindi, means to get rid of something. This is my first feature film. This is a film that speaks about Love, Greed, Lust, Heartbreaks, Freedom and Acceptance. I feel this is a story that will either disturb you, or really comfort you. It will make you smile and will make you scream and cry. I believe that one of the most important parts of the film is its authenticity. The story is not made up but based on what happens in reality in the interiors of Rural India. We were lucky to be able to actually film our scenes deep inside the villages, it adds a sense of rawness to the film which is visually pleasing at the same time. I am sure about the fact that this is a story that needs to be told. This film not only highlights the harsh and beautiful realities of a country but also touches you as a human. This is a film where we as a crew have got more out of it than what we've put into it. We shot this film in an almost impossible schedule of 10 days with almost no budget, working around 18 hours a day. We feel lucky to not have a budget because that forced us to live where the story is based and experience what we must when we make a film on such a theme.
I hope this film reaches out to you the same way we intend to.
