Forest
Moving the microcosms in fallen trees "Whiro" the god of sickness and death is the brother to 'Tāne' the god of the forest. This time Tāne is a woman trying to take the destruction of "Whiro" into her owns hands and while the moon falls back to the earth, the elements begin to destroy each other.
What sickens in the wake of your crescent armature?
Your body judders.
The steel moon bounces.
Your fingers quiver as if to sense the world.
Your dream-like wiri is the belly growl of a tired and irate Earth.
The bite of your eyes makes my skin dance with the imminent recognition of liveness or mortality or the wicked, teeth-grinding pleasure of the sense of an ending—

Kelly Nash is a queer, cross cultural, movement based artist and director with a long career as a performer, teacher and choreographer in New Zealand. Current intern Artistic Manager for Atamira Dance Company, she is a descendant of Ngāpuhi and Ngāi te rangi with English, Irish and Baltic ancestry.
Nancy Wijohn (Te Rarawa, Ngai Tūhoe) is known for her powerhouse performances, strength, grace and athleticism. She has collaborated with many international artists and continues to diversify her skills to include project management and creative producing for Māori, Pakeha and Pacific artists. She is current intern for Te Pou Theatre.
Kelly Nash and Nancy Wijohn have been prolific dance artists in New Zealand working with established companies such as Atamira Dance Company, Douglas Wright and Good Company together. They also create their own work which led them to establish Body Island in 2020. The pandemic moved them away from making live art in theatre spaces and led them to make work for screen. This is their first exploration into film.
