Director Biography - Antonin Amy-Menichetti

Antonin Amy-Menichetti is a visual artist, filmmaker, and photographer born in Aix-en-Provence. He currently lives and works in Montrouge (92). After studying anthropology and then fine arts at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he earned his diploma (DNSAP) in 2009, he embarked on extensive travels (Morocco, Brazil, Spain) that allowed him to work alongside renowned artists (Tunga, Mounir Fatmi, Jean-Marc Bustamantes).

In parallel with this activity, he continued his versatile artistic practice (sculptures, installations, drawings, photos, performances, texts, videos...). This artistic work explores our relationship with major archetypes and our foundational culture (language, writing, shared images, collective memory, genealogy) through a lens that often invokes magic and mysticism, invoking powerful forces (chance, chaos, cosmos, nature...).

In 2016, he was selected by «The Young Ones» as one of the 52 photographers to watch in the world and received the second Opline Prize for his body of photographic and videographic work. His short films often explore the concept of duality, otherness, and what the imaginary «other» can reveal about our own reflection.

Since 2015, Antonin has created around twenty films, including self-produced short films, artistic films, as well as commissioned films (music videos, corporate projects, stage films...). Since 2017, he has been teaching video creation, photographic creation, and writing at the university (Paris 8), directing these forms of expression toward sensory and emotional practices.

Today, his various approaches and practices find coherence as they reflect upon one another, both graphically and thematically, forming a semantic whole.
