Artist, performer and filmmaker, Maidoff’s work is held in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and in the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum. Her films have toured internationally, including screenings at the Guggenheim and Pecci Museums. She has been a recipient of artist residencies at Yaddo, VCCA, and the Wexner Center for the Arts.
In addition to narrative work, Maidoff is also creating “Live Cinema!” -- a series of visual essays which unfold in triptych. Maidoff takes on the characters of a sleepwalker, cowgirl and then "motherboard" to discuss themes of feminine strength and domestic power.
Maidoff just returned after four years as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Ohio University’s School of Film. She now lives in Venice, CA.
She earned her Master’s degree from UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television, winner of the Spotlight Award. She holds a B.A. in Creative Writing from Oberlin College, and received a Mellon Grant for her multi-media performance art piece which integrated science with art.
