Kari Paananen was born in 1967 in Vilppula, situated in Central Finland. His career in media started from a local radio station in Salo. Since 2005 he has worked as a freelance journalist mainly in documentary programmes in the Finnish Broadcasting Company, Yle. He’s had independent documentary side projects ever since. The latest one is Napoleon and I, a short documentary which takes him back to Vilppula.
I'm interested in people, what makes them do the things they do. I also want to find out how they feel about what they're doing. I'm always looking for personal stories that are universal and not just a story of that particular person.
