My life is a movie

With a group of our elderly people who spent in the later seasons of their lives in a nursing home, we have established a cinema workshop in the nursing home where they live in order to save them from familiar proconceptions.
In order to script and play their own troubles and stories with the cinema education they will receive, we are participating in the adventure of making a film together on this artistic journey we set out on together.

Director Biography - Serdal Dogan

Serdal Dogan is a documentary and short film director as well as an independent feature film producer. He worked with many master directors such as Zeki Demirkubuz, Derviş Zaim, Yeşim Ustaoğlu, Hüseyin Karabey and took important roles in their projects the first thing that comes to mind when talking about independent cinema in Turkey.

In addition to he received trainings such as cinema lessons and production from masters who are in an important position in their work, and also received trainings such as theater acting, cinema and short film workshops.

Director Statement

In this documentary, I wanted to show that human beings are trying to hold on to life in any way possible. I wanted to explain how enthusiastic and willing many elderly people in nursing homes are to learn and experience new things in life. Contrary to what is known, many of them are full of life and energy.
