Director Statement

This film is a culmination of the hard truths I learned during my childhood. The heart of it deals with unspoken trauma and the confusing feelings I felt after my father’s death. Telling this story through past and present lenses, it shows how growing up with abuse has affected me and how my memories of the events still reside with me today.

I believe this project speaks for the countless people around the world who don’t often get to express the trauma they have survived. Children are incredibly impressionable and vulnerable. For adults to manipulate and hurt them is terrible and unimaginable. As much as it pains people to think about the atrocities that others go through, it takes more for those who have been hurt to express their pain. This is my story, one that was forced on me without my consent, one that I will share with anyone that will watch. I hope it can find a good home and can help those dealing with their own trauma to know they aren’t alone.

What you’ve gone through doesn’t define you, don’t let it consume you, grow from it.
