My Dumb Face
It’s the crappiest night of ALY’s life. 30 years old, her life lacking direction, she’s been all but abandoned by her mother for a psychotic step-dad—the same step-dad who left her stranded at a rural roadside bar. But when death metal promoter MARCUS steps up as her unlikely savior, the ensuing road trip leads ALY to a personal crossroads: Does she take a path of emotional retreat, or dare to fight for what matters?

My Dumb Face is a film about family, growing into adulthood, and connection. Beautiful with a genius level I.Q., Alyson is 30 and not ready to accept adulthood. But it hits her head on in the form of her new evil step father, the direct opposite of her wonderful, but dead, dad. She is left at a roadside bar and meets Marcus, a large teddy bear of a guy. This is when things get really interesting.
My Dumb Face is based on real events and real people. It took us four years from script to screen and this is the result. 24 minutes of film that takes you on a ride that is as powerful as it is moving. I hope you like it.
Thanks so much for the opportunity to show you our film and I hope you will seriously consider it for your festival.
Best,
Nic Beery
