Johnny and Harry White are two brothers/young filmmakers living in the small mountain town of Evergreen, CO. They’ve been combining their passions of filmmaking and LEGO for eight years, and have also dabbled in live action and clay stop motion. Their work has been featured on John Krasinski’s quarantine web series “Some Good News” as the introduction to the Prom episode (which also starred Rainn Wilson, Billie Eilish, and the Jonas Brothers), and has won multiple awards, including 2nd place in the International Youth Silent Film Festival Global Awards and the winners of Aardman’s “Golden Morph” competition in the “Under 16s” category two consecutive years for their films “DJ Grandmorph” and “Frankenmorph.” Throughout the years, their films have also earned praise from Seinfeld’s Jason Alexander, when he said, “This is pretty impressive. Will this be the new live show at Legoland?” about their LEGO recreation of the Frogger scene, which was additionally featured in a ScreenRant article, Shark Tank host Kevin O’Leary, who tweeted, "Now this is some quality TV,” and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” whose Twitter account said regarding their stop motion, "This is amazing!" The White brothers were also mentored by the late screenwriter/UCLA professor Lew Hunter, who helped Johnny with his writing in elementary school, and Tom DeSanto, who judged IYSFF and said that he thought their film “A Life Worth Living” was “a documentary on [his] life.” Johnny wants to go on to film school and pursue a professional filmmaking career, whereas Harry wants to continue his love of architecture and engineering.
When we saw that AWAL Records was holding a contest to create a video for mxmtoon, we knew immediately that "plastic pony" was the perfect song to capture in LEGO stop motion (as the pony used in our film is literally made of plastic). But beyond that, we wanted to create a music video full of vibrant colors and cinematic shots that accurately represent the song and its message, using new techniques specifically for this project to fully embrace the spirit of the music.
