Joey J. Haley is a genderfluid film & dance creative who is 26-years-old from New Hampshire and Fortaleza, Brazil. He graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a BFA in film and dance. In both disciplines, her work focuses on re-defining and re-constructing the mediums as he strives to showcase deeper societal politics. As a self-taught dancer at 10 years-old, they found a community of Brazilian street dancers that fine tuned his style in pop, lock, and breakdancing. At Mount Holyoke College, he expanded and grew his dance praxis through performing and choreographing. She studied abroad in Prague for a semester at Charles University and Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) and studied with a Sarah Lawrence College feature film program in 2019. An interdisciplinary project encompassing both film and dance called Off the Air has been showcased and won the “Best of Mount Holyoke” award in the Five College Film Festival (2019) which lead to show in the Massachusetts Multicultural Film Festival (2019). In 2021, Joey won an "Excellence in Cinematography" award, along with the rest of his camera crew, for Best Camera Motion in Smashed, presented by Cynthia Pusheck ASC. Joey has operated steadicam in a variety of media over the last several years; most notably Lucia di Lammermoor at the LA Opera, for Dorian Electra, Sinhead Hartnett and an upcoming features Decibel and She’s the He. Joey is a two-time feature writer with both projects in development on an international scale with her written and Los Angeles directorial debut short Spies In Corsets about to release in 2025.
