Production company Tiilikainen Brothers was founded in 2015. Our goal is to do personal, meaningful and visually interesting movies. Although we began with nothing, we have step by step gone for more demanding projects and bought better technical equipment. We aim for full professionalism in order to get necessary resources to fulfill our visions about filmmaking.
We are, admittedly, passionate movie freaks, a fact that creates the basis for all of our work. We study movie history, which is a great way to learn from the masters. Since the silent era, many great directors have given their contribution to this fantastic art form. Among our biggest favorites are Charles Chaplin, Sergio Leone, Stanley Kubrick, Francis Coppola and modern talents like Alejandro Inarritu, Nicolas Winding Refn ja Damien Chazelle. All of these directors have exceptional ability to express their ideas in visually stunning way.
Making films is always teamwork. Samuli is more in charge of the technical part of our work and Santeri in art directing, but we direct, produce and do many other things together. We like to work with people who are not only talented, but also capable of fluid teamwork. In our projects people are equal and everyone is treated with respect.
Our film “I´m Afraid” was selected to Kino Ylläs Festival with very prestigious company. Only 4 shortfilms were included into the highly competitive Kino Ylläs official programme. Other selections were 2014 Oscar nominee “Do I Have to Take Care of Everything” by Selma Vilhunen, “Moonshiners” by 2016 Cannes-winner Juho Kuosmanen and “Helsinki Mansplaining Massacre” (made at 100 000 € budget and starring the biggest legend of Finnish movie history Vesa-Matti Loiri) by Ilja Rautsi. These films are the most important short films made in Finland over the last years. We are very proud of being part of this crèm de la crèm -selection.
