Cinematographer Alkistis Terzi is originally from
Greece and has lived and worked in Scotland for the
last six years (2010-2016). She is currently the
youngest tutor of the film school in Scotland (Screen
Academy, Edinburgh) teaching Cinematography to
the undergraduate and postgraduate students.
As a freelancer Alkistis has been head of the camera
department on more than 15 short films and shot her
first feature film in 2015 at the age of 26. Her interest
in discovering the everyday stories of life has lead her
film making career into the documentary world where
she directed two more features.
'Mountain, Water, Fire' is an improvised collaboration between a film director, choreographer and musician. It is the translation of the core elements of nature that provide life.
We are reversing the visual stimuli that exists in the city life where all you see are man made objects and instead we chose a location where there is only a small reminder of city life due to nature being the dominant feeling within the piece.
The collaboration started with the dancer choreographing and mimicking movements of the chosen elements. Only when the video was cut was the music composed based on her movement and the cinematography.
