Moretta
Moretta revolves around three beings: The Man, The Woman, and the Master, whom exist in another universe, separate from any other being. The Man and Woman are prisoners of the Master, exposing them to physical and psychological torture. However, it is not long before they revolt against their corrupted overseer, putting them each in positions of vulnerability. Throughout these occurrences, in our universe, parallel beings of the man and woman contrast their prisoner counterparts, going about their lives as a writer and businesswoman respectively. However, as they go about their lives, they seem to be connected in some way...

Robert Riglietti is a student filmmaker currently studying at the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Film/Media. Hailing from Long Island, NY, Robert began working in film as a freshman in High School at the age of 14. Now 20, Robert has won a number of awards such as the New York State PTA Reflections Contest “Award of Excellence”, the Hendrick Hudson Film Festival’s “Best Music Video” & “Best Overall Film” awards, and the Speak Truth to Power Video Contest “First Place” award. Recently, Rob has begun to explore an experimental type of filmmaking which aims to use aesthetics in such a way that reflects his own feelings and emotions, but does so in a fashion that is captivating to a large audience. He invites you to join him on his journey in discovering himself through film, and hopes you’ll learn something along the way as well!
As customary to many of my films, Moretta is a manifestation of the many different emotions that have stirred through me in the past few years. More precisely, the film embodies my thoughts and feelings on the validity and threshold of human empathy, misinterpretations on gender inequality, and both the unknown mental and physical limitations of humans while on a journey for self-actualization.
Shot on 16mm color negative film, Moretta is my first major project within the medium. I’m very glad that Moretta was shot on film, primarily because the aesthetic of film fits not only the emotions and overall look of moretta, but also its allegorical implications, and how it ties closely into the concept of the story.
Moretta was also my largest project to date in terms of cast/crew as well as spending. Totaling at about 13 crew members, and 3 cast members, I sought to cover many different bases on this set, creating dedicated positions for duties I would typically would have absorbed as director in the past. In the end, our production fees totaled to $644.33, making it my most expensive film so far.
