ABOUT THE FILMMAKER
My name is Mirka Kettunen.
I'm a filmmaker out of Stockholm, Sweden. I've graduated from Prague Film School in the Czech Republic, where I studied Directing and Scriptwriting. I've worked extensively in TV: docudramas, talk and music shows, news.
THE SCRIPT PITCH
"This is a short romcom sci-fi about Tom Major. He keeps waiting 'the Mothership' to come pick him up. In order to survive life on Earth he sees his life through the eyes of the his alias – the astronaut Major Tom. Apparently he's not the only one who believes he's stranded here. One day he meets Sigourney, aka Scotty, who's also waiting to get beamed up."
ABOUT THE SCRIPT
The idea was born out of Youtube videos where the Moonlanding in 1969 was debunked. Some people had sped up the astronauts' moonwalks – and suddenly the cool weightlessness just looked like a guy in a fat suit bouncing around in a desert. I started to wonder – hm, how could I fake weightlessness on earth? How would it look like if a spaceman would bounce seemingly unnoticed around city streets at night?
That's when I started t to develop the idea of a guy who is an aline in everyday life. That's what has become the script ”Major Tom.”

I've also worked with national TV in Sweden as an Insert Producer, Reporter, Show Host, Editor and Videographer.
CURRENT PROJECTS
I'm currently working on a script for a Scandinavian horror short that is based on the fact that the murky Nordic forests are filled with creatures and entities that has gotten lost in the modern high tech society. Never the less, they are out there – and you better know how to show them respect.
