Reelise Film Festival
Official selection
My name is Lily. I am a Year 11 female-identifying student. This is my first year doing media since year 7. I enjoy films and the beauty of cinematography. Being 17, I have limited experience with technology and film making, apart from the REELise Film Festival I was a part of this year. I would love to go onto film making or acting myself as I love self-expression through these angles. I was apprehensive about both making an Arthouse genre film and even more so submitting it to a Short Film festival. I also have a passion for writing poetry and the poem being read throughout the film is an original by me. The quality of this film and editing was limited to software iMovie, therefore making the creation less professional and perfect. Yet I am proud of my work as a 17-year-old female new to the business.
The film explores somewhat unsettling themes with a non-linear narrative. 'meia' is a film open to interpretation as it has many stories and pathways only the audience can find themselves. With dark themes of depression and schizophrenia along with other messages, the audience will grasp through their own viewing and understandings.
