Mavro Vals
This video and song were inspired by true events
that took place in the Greek city of Serres, a name which
can also be spelled backwards. During the August full moon
a group of people performed occult rituals in the forest.
Their actions sparked a sequence of events, as a female voice
sounded out of nowhere screaming the words
"Η ψυχή μου παίρνει φωτιά" (my soul is on fire).
In time, these events faded into urban legend.
As did the sanity of the people involved...
The title means “black waltz” in Greek.

Working with zero budget in a music video is frustrating and limiting, but if you have sufficient imagination you can utilize things other film makers would otherwise throw away in an instant. Of course, a great song like "Mavro Vals" can really guide you through the whole thing, all you have to do is listen. Also, it was always my dream to shoot a music video for a band inside a forest fire. If it was up to me i would get all of them playing their song meters away from the flames, their facial expressions would produce a video unseen before. The fire department thinks differently, it seems and Mavro Vals is probably the nearest i will ever get to a forest fire. And by the way yes, the fish IS the devil. Don't know where people get the idea of horns, my devil has gills.
