Matthias Salzburger is an award-winning Italian director and producer based in London.
His short films, The Loop (2017), I Am Mia (2018), and Thicker than Water (2020), have been screened at over 40 festivals worldwide. Notably, I Am Mia premiered at NewFest 2018 (NYC) and received positive reviews from UK Film Reviews and
other media outlets. The film was later qualified for the 2020 Academy Awards. Thicker than Water (2020) was also qualified for the BAFTAS & British Independent Film Awards in 2021.
Most recently, Matthias’ short film Chloe (2024), starring Bridgeton's Netflix star Charithra Chandran and executive produced by Claudia Gerini, and Paul Berges, premiered at the Venice Film Festival. Chloe is a pilot for a feature film currently in development.
Since 2020, Matthias has run ScarFilms, a boutique film and commercial agency where he produces his narrative films as well as commercial work for brands like Fred Perry, SONY, Shake Shack, and SKY, featuring prominent Italian music and TV personalities.
For his narrative work, Matthias has been feature on The Hollywood Reporter, Rolling Stones Italy and on the Italian Cinema magazine HotCorn. Matthias is a member of Directors UK and trained in Directing at USC School of Cinematic Arts (LA) under the guidance of Oscar nominated director Michael Toshiyouku Uno, and producing at NFTS in London.
