Director Biography - John Hudson White

After attending the Fashion Institute of Technology in the footsteps of his Harlem born grandmother, John's focus has been on art direction, including working at GB65 and Paris-based Studio No 11, and directing commercials for Rosewood Hotels and Four Seasons Resorts. He combines a desire to tell stories with a love for the cathartic power of cinema.

Director Statement

Statement from screenwriter Rae Maddren: Masterpiece developed as an exercise that would allow me to explore gender dynamics and objectification. However, I was determined to present the female lead as anything but a victim; and so I wrote a script for two equally imperfect characters: both Artist and Muse desire power and control; each one takes turns as the oppressor and the oppressed.
