Long Synopsis
Marina Abramović travels through Brazil, in search of personal healing and artistic inspiration, experiencing sacred rituals and revealing her creative process. The route is comprised of poignant encounters with healers and sages from the Brazilian countryside, exploring the limits between art and spirituality. The film features healing sessions with the medium John of God in Abadiania, herb healers in Chapada dos Veadeiros, spiritual rituals at Vale do Amanhecer in Brasilia, the strength of religious syncretism in Bahia, ayahuasca in Chapada Diamantina, shamanic processes in Curitiba and energy of crystals in Minas Gerais. This external trip triggers in Marina a profound introspective journey through memories, pain and past experiences. Camera Operator, Co-Writer, Director, Editor, Executive Producer, Director, screenwriter and editor who has dedicated the past 10 years recording works of important contemporary artists and creating dialogue between artworks, artists and the audience.
In 2010, he directed the “Second Movement for Piano and Sewing”, produced by Philippe Barcinski for TV Cultura. The film attended many festivals like CINE B in Chile, Ouro Preto Film Festival, and Brazilian Film Festival in Toronto where received awards for Best film, director and actress. Marco is the director of VIDEO BRASIL NA TV for Sesc TV, in its 4th season, as well as, Rafael França – Obra como testamento; Mau Wal – translated encounters; Olafur Eliasson - Seu corpo da Obra and Isaac Julien – Geopoéticas.
His films were exhibited in film festivals at Museo Reina Sofia (Madri), Centre Pompidou (Paris), Nederlands Fotomuseum (Amsterdam) and are part of the collection of numerous institutions such as: The Center for Contemporary Art (Israel), Hong Kong Arts Centre (China), Internationale Kurzfilmtage(Germany), Library of Museu de Arte Contemporânea da USP (Brazil), Midiateca Le Plateau (France).
