Director Statement

Mannequins is a proof of concept for a tv pilot that I wrote in 2020. I wanted to present a side of the film industry that hasn’t been shown, and tackle themes such as prejudice and stereotyping through the lens of people of color. Part of what I want to express is the relatability of having to choose between societal norms and personal values, and how we all struggle to fit in, but at what cost? As serious as this sounds, the show is a comedy that aims to showcase the unspoken and often absurd scenarios that actors deal with on a daily basis. I want to remove the shroud and mystery of the entertainment industry while providing thoughtful commentary about our society as a whole and why we do the things we do.
