Director Biography - Diego Luciano

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, 1989. He began experimenting with cinematography since his childhood, filming dozens of short films in middle school with his little handheld camera. Later on he proceeded to take pictures with small and disposable cameras where he found out he was falling in love with the medium. He then went to the University of Puerto Rico in Bayamón to study a Bachelors in Industrial Engineering. Between classes he kept doing photography and videography with his video camera. Realizing that engineering wasn't for him, he then started an Associate's Degree in Cinematography at the Colegio de Cinematografía, Artes y Televisión (CCAT). It was there where one professor told him about his "photographic eye", encouraging him to take that path. Diego then decided to take advantage of such talent, doing various styles of photography, freelancing and personal projects. He has been part of various film proyects and has been awarded twice, Best Shortfilm on the 2016's Silent Film Contest and Best Shortfilm in the European International Film Festival: Hecho en Europa's 48hour Film Contest in the same year, being awarded a scholarship to EICAR in Paris, France. He is currently working on various music videos as a cinematographer and a few shortfilms to come.

Director Statement

Being raised in an homosexual atmosphere, Lú came to light thanks the vision I have of my mother, her uncondicional love for her partner and their unique and sometimes bizarre but strong relationship. I have fallen in love with filmmaking thanks to Kubrick and his one point perspective and also Gaspar Noé and his raw view of life. This is my take with those influences at hand. I am a first time Director and Cinematographer.
