Gon Busquets is an Argentine director, screenwriter and editor. His first approach to the audiovisual world was during his acting studies, but he soon knew that his place was behind the camera. For this reason, he attended Eliseo Subiela Film School in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He directed the short films “The Power”, “Maturity”, “Everyone but Kevin”, and “My first show”.
“The Persistence of the Scene” is a passage through the experience of facing a crisis in times of pressure. After working on this concept in my previous short, I returned to it, developing characters based on three characteristics of my personality, to play with how they would work if they were in the same place. We explored films with characters in strange, forced or tense relationships (“Dogtooth” by Lanthimos, “Honey Cigar” or “Carol”, by Todd Haynes). The proposal was based on the construction of ambiguity, contrasting light and darkness, brightness and dirt, the colors in the costumes. We also worked on the idea of repetition with mirrors and with a musical leitmotiv in different tones and pace, with different sounds respecting an original melody.
