Director Statement

Thank you very much for reading.

about "Living." (second directed)

Since my debut work "gate", my philosophical foundation has not changed. The foundation is my personal opinion that images are already eloquent.

My ultimate faith in images is very similar to my direct and complete admiration for silent films.

I believe that the sound (Recording and voicing by a sound engineer) plays the role of helping the fact that the image speaks richly. And how should I, as a filmmaker, respond when I cannot rely on sound (Recording and voicing by a sound engineer)? In other words, what is cinematic? After asking myself what is a silent film and what is a talkie film, I have come up with my own answer: "Living." The reason why I couldn't rely on a voice engineer is simple. Budget problems and lack of connections. However, in the end, I think positively that it was a great opportunity to learn how to arrange environmental sounds, sound effects, and music through trial and error.

Reference works include Jean Vigo "Zero de conduite", John Cassavetes "Faces", Jim Jarmusch's "Stranger Than Paradise", and Yasujiro Ozu's "Tokyo Story".
