Director Statement

All worthwhile art must have part of the soul of the artist behind it. The story of Little Death is drawn from my personal experiences with hook-up culture during my time in college. It is meant to represent the cycle of depersonalized, casual sex interrupted by an expected burst of emotion a new partner may give you that oftentimes goes unreciprocated.

Admittedly, this film is a departure from both the nature of Classroom 105’s usual work and from what is typical from what is usually shown in Mono Feo’s Midnight Home Movies series. However, one of the many genres listed in the original post was “queer” and “arthouse”. Sex is a theme that should be healthily explored and openly discussed by queer filmmakers. There is only a small handful of work that captures our experiences in an honest and personal way. By conveying vulnerability through the lens of sex and hookup culture, we will understand an often overlooked part of the queer experience.

Thank you for taking the time to experience something intimate and meaningful.
