Life Inside 'Islamic State'

In January 2014 a brutal new Jihadist group swept through Syria and set up its capital in Raqqa in the east of the country.

In the two years since, so-called Islamic State has evolved into the most notorious extremist group in the world.

For the past three months, BBC Radio 4's Today programme correspondent, Mike Thomson, has been in sporadic contact with an activist based in Raqqa from a group called Al-Sharqiya 24. This short documentary depicts the activist's diary of what life is like under Islamic State.

Director Biography - Scott Coello

Cribble is Scott Coello, a Cornish-bred, freelancer-prancer animator.

Cribble's previous super short shorts have had many nods and features from international festivals, to television, to web, from the likes of San Diego Comic Con, Huffington Post, Encounters, Vimeo staff picks, BBC and Channel 4.

Cribble's graduation experimental animation "She Farted And Created The World" explored evolution themes through the medium of recycled papers, which found itself shortlisted for Virgin Media Shorts. Cribble went on to win Encounter's Depict Audience Pick Award for his skitty, whimsical dine-and-dash short "HEY!", which was made entirely out of brown envelops!
