Director Statement

The initial idea for "Lifeline" (then called "Lateralus") began back in 2013 whilst i was working as an editor. The appeal of the story came from the emotional toll a person who works at these crisis hotlines go through daily, talking to callers suffering from clinical depression and callers at the brink of suicide.

We (Co-Director Derek) thought that it would make for an interesting short documentary, but that didn't happen. The idea was essentially put on hold for two years before i decided that we should make a short film out of the idea since we’ve never really made a narrative short of our own before.

Bearing in mind that this would be our first film, Derek and I decided to self-finance it and shoot the majority of it in one location. We called in favors from other friends and the 5 of us shot "LIfeline" in two days.
