My name is Valeria. I’m a filmmaker and a lecturer of film history and editing theory at Compass College (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan). I was born in Belarus and currently live and work in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
I work in the field of documentary and experimental cinema, exploring the inner landscapes of the human being and the ways abstract concepts can be translated into the language of image and rhythm. For me, editing is not just a technique — it’s a way of thinking and perceiving.
I studied design at Belarusian State University and later experimental directing at the St. Petersburg School of New Cinema. My artistic vision was also shaped by my background in painting, animation, and graphic arts — as well as by numerous travels and the experience of shifting cultural contexts.
In 2025, I completed my feature-length debut “I Lit the Fire!”. My others short experimental and documentary films have been shown at festivals and exhibitions in Tashkent, Vilnius, Warsaw, Minsk, Saint Petersburg, and Moscow. Among them are “Crossroad”, “Yarn”, “Little Margarita”, “Unnomed”, “The Land of Cerulean Sea”, “Forgotten Future”, and “Homeless Daughter’s Dreams”.
