Lemo Sekiguchi is a filmmaker born and raised in Tokyo, Japan until the age of 7 when she moved to the US. Her work delves into childhood nostalgia and authentic experiences frequently overlooked in media and history, representing marginalized voices who've been silenced, exploring characters whose identities challenge societal norms within oppressed environments. She has been named a 2023 YoungArts Award Winner in Film and 2024 YoungArts Award Winner in Writing with Distinction and has been recognized for the caliber of her artistic achievement, joining 150 of the most accomplished young visual, literary, and performing artists from throughout the county. She was named a Semi-Finalist for the 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program from U.S. Department of Education. She's currently a student at Kanbar Institute of Film and Television at NYU Tisch.
