Aron Randhawa is a 25-year-old filmmaker from West London. Fascinated by the atmospheres within neo-noir and drama films, much of his work began at 17 years of age studying Media at West Thames College, Isleworth. It was there his early experimental projects began to receive public screenings, encouraging him to push his abilities further towards an industry standard that could be viewed by a vast audience.
Within his initial years of filmmaking, he took the opportunity to travel with his camera. First a cinematography trip to Mt Teide, Tenerife and shortly after directing a documentary for hip-hop artist ‘K. Sparks’ in Queens, New York. He then decided to study Film at Birmingham City University to broaden his technological knowledge of the production process. In 2016, his short film ‘La Promesa’ won an award at the London New Renaissance Film Festival for ‘Best Young Talent’.
After working in the film industry for over a year as a colour science technician on numerous film and television shows, Aron soon began to develop an interest in creating visual technology for live music events. Co-creating a company with his university friend Henry Betts, they have continued to work together on visual projection mapping systems for crowds of over 3000 people at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and Electric Brixton. Aron is currently employed at Canon UK as a Cinema Camera Technician and regularly provides workshop classes for local college students regarding film technology and colour science.
‘La Promesa’ is a story regarding loneliness, unconditional love and music; I believe the film also has a lot of heart. Each member of the crew put a great deal of love into making it and had a respect for the characters we were portraying. My ambition is to make films that send a message of hope to society, while also commenting on social issues that otherwise tend to be ignored. This story is the first major step towards making this a reality.
