Director Statement

"The Hyena, the Owl and the Bull" is born from a screenplay write by Lorenzo Fedon, who has write this story based on the film "Rashomon" (1950) direct by Akira Kurosawa. The inspiration taken from the work is not much about the topics discussed, but of the formal idea of the film. A story, seemingly simple, but told through different perspectives. In our case, something happens in a dark bar in a dark evening like others, that will profoundly change the climate of the local. So is a task of those present that night, have to tell the police what happened, but valuing their version of events.
Link of the whole story are the cards. The playing cards are present in the first scene and also in the whole film graphics. The cards, depicting the three animals, representing a similarity with the people. Each of us tell his story, his own life, that does not always reflect what really do transpire outside. People often look only the appearance, the prejudices, judging us for our first appearance, just like we are the image of a playing card. But the value of a card is quite different from the image that shows. In fact, it can vary from game to game and even if well played, a card which appear useless, can be decisive. Even so it is with people. We do not know the state of mind of a man and what he think, for that reason we can't judge, and you should always respect his wishes, although he wants to tell us his story or not.
