Three aspiring filmmakers, are looking for the right idea to participate in a competition for short films on the theme "Young people and work". Between false starts, quotes, and vignettes, they set out on a journey to try to defeat the inconclusiveness of daily life.

Director Biography - Valerio Burli

EN - Director, screenwriter and editor graduated from the Experimental Center of Cinematography in film reportage. “Lupen, the novel of a real thief”, his graduation documentary, was a small case abroad thanks to some articles in Vice Magazine. In 2017 he won the prize for best national short at the Fabrique du Cinema Awards with “Cold inside”, from the jury chaired by actor Willem Dafoe. In the same year he made “A hundread years”, in 35mm film at the “Terre di Cinema” film residence. He continues with the commissioned shorts “Burning Tape”, broadcast on Rai as part of the collective film “Bowienext”, and “Rome is not a game”, with the extraordinary participation of Stefano Fresi. He worked as a backstage operator for the Danish director Nicholas Winding Refn and helped the legendary cinematographer Vittorio Storaro in the creation of the book “Storia della Cinematografia”. He often works with international productions as assistant director and is a professor of film-making at the American campus “IES Abroad” in Rome.

IT - Regista, sceneggiatore e montatore diplomato presso il Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in reportage cinematografico. “Lupen, romanzo di un ladro reale”, suo documentario di diploma, è stato un piccolo caso all’estero grazie ad alcuni articoli di Vice Magazine. Nel 2017 vince il premio per il miglior corto nazionale ai Fabrique du Cinema Awards con “Freddo dentro”, da giuria presieduta dall’attore Willem Dafoe. Nello stesso anno realizza “A hundread years”, in pellicola 35mm presso la residenza cinematografica “Terre di Cinema”. Continua con i corti su commissione “Burning Tape”, in onda sulla Rai all’interno del film collettivo “Bowienext”, e “Roma non è un gioco”, con la partecipazione straordinaria di Stefano Fresi. Ha lavorato come operatore backstage per il regista danese Nicholas Winding Refn e ha aiutato il leggendario direttore della fotografia Vittorio Storaro nella realizzazione del volume “Storia della Cinematografia”. Lavora spesso con produzioni internazionali come aiuto regia ed è docente di film-making presso il campus americano “IES Abroad” a Roma.
