KathaFest is an International photo and film festival, promoting new and creative storytellers. KathaFest believes in sharing stories and perspectives of the new generation of creators.
The festival is open internationally for attendance and application.
It is an event format like never before. KathaFest invites people under the age of 21 to send five of their best pictures for the photo competition. A panel of very experienced judges will go through them, selecting 25 people for the final round in Kathmandu. In the final round, the 25 people will be given a Film Camera (Camera with film reels) and theme to shoot on (Under 25 minutes). The pictures will be on display at the event, and the best will be awarded.
KathaFest invites people under the age of 30, to send anyone of their best films for the film festival. The best 10 films will be screened and the best will be awarded under different categories.
KathaFest values the story every picture and every frame conveys.

Photo Competition
1. Photographers across the globe (Up to the age of 21) have to submit 5 of their best pictures(Of any genre) to us and among those diverse range of photographers, 25 of them will be selected for the final round.
2. The 25 photographers will be called a week before the event to different spots, and given a model, different props and a film camera (The one with film reels), and they have to shoot something in the next 25 minutes staying in a particular theme.
3. These pictures will be judged by a panel of qualified judges, who will select photographers on the basis of COMPOSITION, STORY AND USE OF SUBJECTS.
4. They will be displayed in the event days and the best will be awarded in the final day.
5. The categories of awards include: Best Use Of Props, Best Use Of Models, Best framer and compositor, Best Picture and Best Photographer.
Film Fest
1.Filmmakers across the globe (Up to the age of 30) can submit 2 of their best films (Under 40 minutes).
2. The movies will be divided under two categories: Novice (Under the age of 21) and Independent (Above the age of 21, till 30)
3. The best 10 films (5 Novice Category and 5 Independent Category) will be screened at the two day event with other guest screenings, in shifts (One shift premiering 2 films) and the best will be awarded on the final day.
3. The categories of awards include; Best Documentary, Best Screenplay, Best Short, Best Director (Short), Best Director (Documentary), Best Cinematographer [These awards are in two categories: Novice and Independent].
