Experiencing Interruptions?

Mijn ouders wonen op Jupiter

The lives of Ruben and Floor are unexpectedly turned upside down when one day the police knock on their door and inform them that both their parents have died that very morning. From that moment on, they're faced with the impossible task of reinventing their life and starting over. In the run-up to the funeral, brother and sister each go through their own coping process, in which they risk losing sight of each other. Ruben tries to cling to everything that has been. Whilst Floor becomes very focused on the future and actually wants to get on with life as quickly as possible.

Director Statement

Losing both of his parents in an accident in 2021, right before the start of his graduation year, Rutger decided he wanted to make a movie about a brother and sister going through the same experience. For him, going through this experience was an eye opener that talking about death very much still is a taboo. With this film he hopes to start a conversation and break this taboo.
