Jazeer Thekkekara, born June 24, 1984, is an Qatari film director, Screenwriter and social activist. Born in Calicut, Kerala, Jazeer’s body of work explores themes that affect the day to day lives of common people and the less privileged. Many of his short films are known for the depiction of hope, humanity and love. His films in malayalam and arabic languages are characterised by neo-noir, expressive direction style, popular culture, experimental soundscapes and fine screen writing.
The independent film makers debut film Opportunity (2017) got the special screening and mention of the Jury in various film festivals. Story, Screenplay and Direction are his area of focus in film making. The films of critical acclaim include Opportunity (2017), Breathe here (2018) and Ring (Arabic) (2018), Paasam (2020), Violin (2020) and Malar (2020) .
Jazeers films were premiered and shown in 40+ international film festivals including the prestigious Best of India Short Film Festival 2018, California, Central Portland Environmental Film Festival, USA, Al Nahj International Film Festival, Iraq, Fabriano International FIlm Festival, Italy, Ekotop International Film Festival, Prague and Mequinnesa International Film Festival, Spain.
Jury member at various international film festivals, Member of South India Film and Television Producers Guild, Jazeer is now in the pre-production work of a feature film Hatcher which he is to produce and direct.
