JÁN TOMPKINS is a multimedia artist and archival researcher specializing in audiovisual storytelling and immersive installations. With a focus on found media, Tompkins’ works remix cultural materials and artifacts to curate and create experiences for audiences that encourage curiosity, playfulness, and introspection. In 2020 with his creative partner Mika Johnson, he co-founded the Prague-based production company Daisy with Rider. His long-time collaboration with Johnson has spanned projects such as VRwandlung (2018), a traveling VR project co-produced with the Goethe-Institut Prague adapting Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis, The Republic of Dreams, a multimedia project centered on the works of Bruno Schulz produced in cooperation with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, The Infinite Library, a traveling VR-based exhibition co-produced with High Road Stories, the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan New Delhi, and Theta Noir, an artist collective exploring humanity’s co-evolution with advanced forms of machine intelligence, fostering dialogue on AI, biodiversity, and spirituality.
