After achieving three A Levels, I began my filmmaking adventure at Sheffield Hallam University studying MArt Film and Media Production. Interested in painting and animation from a young age, I have subsequently learnt many skills about filmmaking and storytelling very quickly; from writing my own scripts to cinematography, editing, sound, art direction and bits of co-producing. I have also used these skills on collaborative projects both in and out of university on diverse projects, from model shoots to classical chamber concerts. I was involved in a film which was nominated for a 2012 RTS Student Award which has inspired me further. It is the physical work and effort of creating a film that excites me. The goal to make features has been my number one priority for many years and this is what I intend to pursue with my current writer/director experience.
My ambition is simply to be unique and original. I am inspired by all forms of art including painting, music, acting, dance, photography, and the written word. It is unlikely anyone has talents in all of these themselves which is why I use film to interpret my love for each.
Most of all, I want to connect with people and make them experience what I am experiencing - the way I feel, the way I see the world, and subsequently how I can project this into something as complex as the commercial industry. Whether I am completely mainstream in terms of output or I decide to work in more artful areas I go with my head, my heart, and personal tastes in order to get where and what I want.
