Ipanema Film Festival

The rules and terms for submitting to the IPANEMA FILM FESTIVAL are reasonable and clear. We expect the understanding and agreement on our rules to enter your work into the competition and/or promotional service on our website.

First of all, we'd like to inform submitters that our collective is committed to nurture the growth and passion for the craft of filmmaking for the worldwide independent film community. We have as an objective to provide personable, friendly, and motivational communication with filmmakers/submitters. Therefore, we expect the same code of conduct from you. This way, the lack of respect and/or misbehavior will lead to disqualification and legal actions.

The rules for IPANEMA FILM FESTIVAL are:

I. All films that are not in English MUST have English (or Portuguese) language subtitles. However, if the film is in Portuguese, you can submit it without English subtitles.

II. All entry fees are non-refundable. To submit in a special add-on category, the filmmaker MUST submit their project in one of the main categories, otherwise, the submission will be DISQUALIFIED.

III. Multiple entries from the same submitter are accepted, with separated submissions and separated entry fees that will accompany each entry. However, in repeated entries of the same project, only the last entry will be considered.

IV. The decisions of the festival selection curatorship and jury will be final and indisputable. If unhappy with your work's final verdict, we can't offer you a refund because a lot of hours have been invested into your work by the festival's jury and curatorship.

V. Films that are submitted MUST BE the entrant’s original work, and SHALL NOT infringe on any copyrights or any other rights of any third parties. Contestants agree that they have obtained all required copyright permission, regarding music, sound, images, etc. presented in their film. Therefore filmmakers MUST have all rights associated with their films and allow IPANEMA FILM FESTIVAL to the posting of stills and short clip fragments from the film on the festival's website/platform plus social media channels, for solely promotional, non-commercial, and educational purposes. Stills from your film could be used for example within our final list of winners/nominees, and short clip fragments from your film could be used within our festival trailer.

VI. By Submitting your project to Ipanema Film Festival, you allow our Festival to use press materials from the film (such as still photos, posters, trailers, and clips) for promotional purposes on our website and social media. Therefore, all films selected for the Festival grant IPANEMA FILM FESTIVAL the rights to use press materials from the films for promotional purposes.

VII. The burden of obtaining copyright and all proprietary interests for the submitted material rests solely on the applicant.

VIII. Ipanema Film Festival organizers reserve the right to change, cancel or re-schedule the dates, awards & categories without prior consent or information to contestants.

IX. The organizers reserve the right not to award any or all of the prizes.

X. Submitting for the competition does not in turn mean you're automatic 'Officially Selected'. 'Official Selection' is competitive, thus submitting doesn’t mean your film will automatically be selected.

XI. Submitting for the Promotional Services of our website (REVIEWS, INTERVIEWS, PRESS RELEASES, and NEWS MEDIA COVERAGE) in turn means you're automatically selected for the Promotional Services provided by us. However, the submitter must note that this doesn't mean that the film in the competition is automatically elected for promotional services, and vice-versa. Promotional Services ARE NOT related to the film festival's competitions.

XII. IPANEMA FILM FESTIVAL will not publish the full-length film without the permission of the submitter. If the filmmaker decides not to show the film online, we will screen the short privately to the Festival's Jury.

XIII. The curatorship for the IPANEMA FILM FESTIVAL does not require premiere status.

XIV. The film must be submitted in the correct competitive category or else it will be directly disqualified.

XV. Regarding the Promotional Services (exclusively INTERVIEWS and REVIEWS) we also accept submissions from SCRIPTWRITERS and ACTORS. Our crew will evaluate their work (Scripts for Screenwriters, and Biography and Demo Reel for Actors) to elaborate the interview questionnaire.

COPYRIGHTS
By submitting your film to our festival you agree that your project (full film, trailer) can be uploaded/embedded on our website. The filmmaker/institution that is submitting the film must own the right to do so and is responsible for the content they are providing. By submitting, the filmmaker allows IPANEMA FILM FESTIVAL to create promotional material for their film without infringing the copyright of any kind of form. Filmmakers can request via email to remove the film link at any time.

DISCLAIMER
The applicant agrees to have read and accepted the rules & regulations for participation in the Ipanema Film Festival.
The applicant confirms that one has the requisite authority or has obtained the requisite authority from the producer/right holder to enter this film in the IPANEMA FILM FESTIVAL. Under NO circumstance, the authorities of the IPANEMA FILM FESTIVAL will entertain or be answerable to anyone else apart from the submitter.

NOTIFICATIONS
After a film has been selected for the film competition, the filmmaker is notified via email only. The selected films will be published on the festival's website and social media. All films which are selected/awarded in the competition will be informed only by emails, and social media. No inquiries or arguments will be entertained regarding non-selected films. The decision of the selection committee and jury will be final and indisputable.
