Director Biography - J Jesse Peterson

Jesse Peterson has been creating surreal neo-noir hyperdramas since his inaugural post university film 'The Kiss Off' premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival in 2001. Educated in Canada he attended the University of Manitoba studying fine arts and film under Manitoba Luminaries George Toles and Guy Madden. After creating several 16mm shorts he studied animation, video post production and motion graphics, completing his degree in Digital Multimedia Design (DMD) in 2007 where his student film 'Der Yunge Ist Kranke' won the DMD award for best film and the U of Winnipeg Film Festival's Best Director and Best Sound awards. Jesse's projects range from mainstream commercial advertisements to experimental art installations. His work has been screened at film festivals and curated for art exhibitions around the world. He is also a key member of the performance art no-wave masters and psychobilly rockers the 67's.

Director Statement

This allegorical reflection on power dynamics in relationships is a form of feminist statement as the power shifts from the antagonist to the protagonist. The collaborative project by filmmaker J Jesse Peterson (Canada) and musician and producer Bryon Ramsey-Leonard Rudd (USA) and creative Dasha Nguyen (Russia ) was filmed in Vietnam.
