Instantaneous Culture
A ballad about love in a time of mobile phones, about wanting, longing, desiring but not really getting. Talk versus action, song versus stillness and some great lingerie to go with it.

Elly Clarke is an artist based in Berlin who is interested in the changing place & role of the physical body & object in our increasingly digitally mediated & experienced world. She has a MA from Central Saint Martins, an undergraduate degree in History of Art and her work has been shown in museums and galleries internationally. Clarke writes all songs for #Sergina, in collaboration with different musicians and artists. All of what #Sergina does is collaborative in one form or the other.

#Sergina (played in this video by Clarke) is a multi-locationable drag queen who sings songs about sex, relationships and mobile phones - both online and in the flesh. The song was originally written for a band Clarke was in in 2010. Three years later Clarke decided to rework the song into something more electronic, and bring the pre existing character #Sergina together with this issue of technology. Instantaneous Culture is one of a series of music videos featuring #Sergina, shot in different cities. In a way the films could be understood to be a portrait of each place they are shot in.
Instantaneous Culture was shot in one day with no budget whatsoever, made in close collaboration with two friends, and edited by a fourth.
