Life in the Infrared

"Life in the Infrared" is a short film about the use of thermal infrared imaging created for the American Geophysical Union 2015 Fall Meeting poster presentation "PA21A-2156 Developing Short Films of Geoscience Research" by J.S. Shipman, P.W. Webley, J. Dehn, M. Harrild, D. Kienenberger, and M. Salganek. Featuring an interview with volcanologist Dr. Jonathan Dehn from the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute and case studies from applications in volcanology and arctic biology.

Director Biography - Jill Shipman

Jill Shipman is a director, producer, and actor. Academically, she is pursuing Theatre and Film Studies and a PhD in Geophysics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). She has film production experience working with the UAF FRAME program and was the First Assistant Director for the UAF film Bodies of Water. Jill recently directed the stage production of Micheal Shaeffer’s The Stephen King Cameo for UAF’s Student Drama Association’s Winter Shorts.
Her debut main stage performance was in Five Women Wearing the Same Dress playing the role of Georgeanne. Her previous performances include Revive the Red Tent’s Radio Theatre, directing and acting in The Luxury of Suffering and Lead Dancer in Opera Fairbanks' L’Italiana in Alergi. She has also appeared in the national TV productions Ice Cold Killers and Alaska Haunting.
