TONYA HAWKINS is an award winning actress, writer, producer, and the founder of Twin Fins Productions. Born and raised a Midwesterner, she has lived most of her life in Michigan and calls both Flint and Detroit metros home. It's with that unique perspective she seeks to create unforgettable moments that are forged through a collaborative bond with other filmmakers. As a storyteller she wants to expose the darkest and most brilliant truths we humans share. To illuminate them in raw and unflinching detail for better or worse. For the past decade, she has served in a variety of acting and producing roles for film, and television projects- most recently A Wicked Offer (2015), Crowning Jules (2017), and Kid Brother (2017).
During the Summer of 2017 she partnered with Writer/Director Peter Herold for their first collaboration as a Director/Producer team and their short film Midnight Light won 4 awards (including Best Director, Acting, Genre & Audience Favorite) at the 48 Hour Film Project in Detroit, MI and Best Short Screenplay at the Westfield International Film Fest.
Tonya is currently in various stages of production on several forthcoming projects via her company Twin Fins, including Hear Our Voice, a feature documentary exploring the contemporary women’s movement in America and a feature film titled How To Disappear with creative partner Peter Herold currently slated for a Fall 2020 release.
