Director Biography - Leanne Tong, Raaghav Minocha

Raaghav Minocha is a filmmaker from California in his 4th year at UC Berkeley. He is currently spending his fall semester studying cinema at the University of Hong Kong (HKU).

He wants to tell stories that recall emotions more difficult to express, through both narrative and documentary styles, and plans to use his directorial vision and editing ability to craft them.

Besides film, he loves listening to hip-hop, jazz, soul, r&b (and every combination of those few), being completely horizontal on grass when the sun is out, and climbing trees and rocks.

Director Statement

I (Raaghav) made this film with two local students in Hong Kong during my term abroad at HKU. It captures the politically charged events of the latter-half of 2019 from a different perspective than we’re used to seeing in the media and on the ground. Please visit raaghav.me/inertia to learn more about what’s happening in Hong Kong and how you can help.

A note – I am an Indian-American, and have only been in Hong Kong for the past 3 months. This story is a result of many, many conversations with local Hongkongers, to whom this story can be credited.

Shot in 4k on iPhone XR using Filmic Pro + Zhiyun Smooth 4 Gimbal. Edited with DaVinci Resolve.
