Ilton Kabassa do Rosario, born in Angola in 1991, experienced a transformative childhood marked by his parents' migration to the Netherlands in the early 2000s amidst a civil war in his homeland. Growing up in a new environment, Ilton developed a profound fascination for his own perception of life and the world around him, prompting him to meticulously document his experiences. It was through this documentation that he discovered the transformative power of cameras, unlocking a multitude of possibilities for expression.
Although initially drawn to architecture, Ilton's educational journey took a different trajectory when he realized the boundless freedom offered by the visual arts. Immersing himself in this realm, he dedicated himself to using visual tools to convey his narratives.
Following a period of travel, Ilton pursued his passion for filmmaking by enrolling in a prestigious film school in Brussels in 2014. There, he earned his Bachelor's degree in cinematography and gained experience on various film sets, assuming roles ranging from assistant and Digital Imaging Technician to director of photography (DP).
In 2022, Ilton achieved a significant milestone with the filming of his debut feature film, "ON THE GO" (shot on 16mm), directed by Maria Gisele & Julia de Castro. The movie premiered at the 23rd Locarno Film Festival, marking a notable achievement in Ilton's burgeoning career in cinema.
Currently, Ilton continues to work as a director of photography, leveraging his expertise in films, documentaries, and music videos. Additionally, he occasionally ventures into roles as a producer, director, and writer, further expanding his creative spectrum.
