A Short Walk between Self and Noneself: AI, Art and Science at IGC

An interview with Prof. Antonio Coutinho is suddenly interrupted by his clones to metamorphose into a documentary about IGC and an autobiography featuring its artist/scientist-in-residence.

The oneiric docu-fiction about the self, noneself and multitude of selves, explores the thin line between these seemingly opposing forces while questioning identity from artistic/scientific perspectives.

Director Statement

Sometimes you find yourself enchanted in a mesmerising place or facing a storytelling face that you wish you could hold on to forever and perhaps carry with you wherever you go. As a scientist and an artist, I try to capture the magic of such ethereal escapades along with the intense sense of wonder they make me experience, before they fade away. Then, I share them in their freshest and most authentic states with the help of my lifelong curiosity and careful observations that have taught me the laws in which light interacts with solids and optics. I have taught myself how to hack light and optics to mimic a certain experience or a fleeting emotion, in an image or a series of images. This ephemeral infinity is the beauty of everything! This is everything!
