I'M SORRY IT DIDN'T WORK OUT

Sometimes, all you can do is apologize.

"I'm sorry it didn't work out" is a dystopian speculative art piece that touches on human relationship with the ocean in the face of the Anthropocene and is set after an ecological collapse. The piece is a first-person narrative of a post-human AI that is leaving the blue planet for the very last time while reading an apology letter, addressing planet earth and seeking forgiveness.

The narrator is a part of the present "future generations" that are frequently mentioned in climate policies and agreements while having no actual form of representation. The piece challenges the idea that the rights of these future generations cannot be guaranteed as they do not have anyone to represent them.

If all goes wrong, perhaps all they can do is ask for forgiveness for their species' doings.
